Q: Do you need experience?

A: Not at all. The whole ethos of The Big Act Theatre School is to instil confidence and creativity and to develop and nurture skills in the Performing Arts.

Q: When are the classes?

A: The Big Act in Epsom is every Saturday in term time from 10am - 1pm. (Please note that classes will be breaking for one week during the February and October half term breaks only).

'The Little Act' class for 4-7 year olds is held every Saturday afternoon in Epsom from 2pm-3.15pm. (Please note that classes will be breaking for one week during the February, May and October half term breaks).

Q: Where are they held?

A: Big and Little Act (+weekday classes) are held at St Martin's House, Church Street, Epsom KT17 4PX

Q: What happens in the classes?

A: The Big Act classes are in three age bands (8-10, 11-13 and 14-16). Each has 3 hours of Performing Arts, one hour each of drama, dance and singing. Classes are led by professional teachers. Each term we also have professionals from Theatre, TV and Film, leading master classes in everything from film-making to stage combat!

'The Little Act' is designed for 4-7 year olds. It is one hour consisting of energetic drama games, lively songs and funky dances to inspire your child's creativity and promote confidence and concentration.

Our weekday classes are fun, high octane sessions designed for individuals who want to specialise in a particular area of the performing arts...all beginners welcome!

Q: Are there performances?

A: Definitely! We regularly host a variety of workshops in drama, dance and singing to showcase to family and friends. Once a year we also produce a large scale production in a professional venue involving the whole school.

Q: Why do acting singing and dancing?

A: We believe that all three mediums complement each other so well. It is essential that a singer knows how to move and put expression into their song. An actor has to project their voice and demonstrate good physicality. A dancer must show a good understanding of their character and respond to the music.

Q: What do students wear?

A: We suggest a plain black T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms or leggings and plimsolls or jazz shoes.

Q: Are there breaks between sessions?

A: Yes there are five to ten minute breaks each hour where students are welcome to bring a drink and small snack.

Q: Do you restrict who can perform?

A: Not at all! We encourage every child to take part whatever their capabilities.
